Cincinnati disability attorneys Frequently Asked Questions

How much do you charge?

Answer: As a Cincinnati disability attorney, the fee for representation is 25% of retroactive disability benefits, but with a cap of $5,300, plus costs. For example, if retroactive benefits were $10,000 the fee would be $2,500. If retroactive benefits were $100,000, the fee would stop at $5,300.

However, no fee is owed if there is no recovery of retroactive benefits.

Costs are limited to out-of-pocket expenses for medical records, reports, and doctor opinions. Typically, costs are minimal and are usually less than $200. Costs are charged from the 75% of retroactive benefits that constitutes the client's share of the award. Each state has its own rules on the imposition of costs. For Ohio clients, for instance, costs are not owed if there is no recovery of retroactive benefits.
