MICHAEL J. MOONEY: It's important for people to apply for Social Security sooner rather than later. This is because it typically takes a year to up to three years to get Social Security. It's a system that's biased in favor of the older claimant because Social Security recognizes that there is such a thing as age discrimination. You can always apply. And if you end up going back to work, go back to work. Dismiss it. It doesn't cost anything to file. And it doesn't cost anything to dismiss it.The most important thing an individual can do when they've lost their Social Security case is contact an attorney.

STEPHEN H. OLDEN: If you've been turned down, something's happened. Social Security has not been convinced. So those are good times to contact a lawyer. A person has 60 days plus an additional five days for mailing purposes by which to file the appeal. And so the time limits are short. And they should begin working on appeal with an attorney right away.

MICHAEL J. MOONEY: If you have any questions about whether you're eligible for Social Security, just give me a call. We'll discuss the case honestly. And I'll do everything I can to get you the benefits you deserve.
